Tuesdays in April: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 6-9pm
Prereq: MS1 or Equivalent. If you know how to load a saw frame and already had an introduction to soldering and studio safety then this course is for you!
In this 4-week course learn about ring and bezel fabrication as well as cabochon and rough stone setting. On the first night you will use a pre-made bezel and calibrated stone to create a pendant or ring top.
Then we will jump right into the design process to create a custom bezel set ring. Learn how to fabricate a fine silver bezel and all the soldering tips and tricks in between. Learn how to embellish around the bezel with decorative wire and the many uses for all that silver scrap. Confused about which solder to use and why? We’ll cover that too.
Once we have the “backing” made for the bezel we will move on to ring construction. A full shank and half shank will be demonstrated in class. Choose which one is right for you and move on to the final steps of your custom ring.
Learn how to solder all your components together and how to minimize clean up. Throughout the course you will fine tune the finishing process.
All tools and supplies are provided by Quench for you to use (and are available for purchase if you'd like to start your own tool box). Sterling silver material is extra and can be purchased throughout the course or as needed. 10 seats available. When it's sold out please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get on a waiting list. Unfortunately, most cancellations don't happen until the first day of class so please make a note on your calendar.
