Fri & Sat, March 16th & 17th, 9-5pm
Spend 2 days with the talented Sarah Chapman in this introduction to the Hydraulic Press while you create form and texture in metal. We will experiment with embossing, pillowing, bending and die cutting techniques to achieve results not easily attained with any other method.
Each participant will also make custom individual dies that can be used in limitless combinations to form metal in ways unique to the hydraulic press.
Included in your class fee: Silhouette die blanks, saw blades, use of all hand tools and equipment and handouts. Metal will be available for purchase or bring your own 26g and 24g copper sheet. We don't recommend starting with sterling silver until you get a feel for the press.
If you already have silhouette dies, pancake dies, etc. please feel free to bring them. Once you have been through this workshop, have an understanding of how the hydraulic press works and how to safely use it you may come back during our Open Studio hours to access the hydraulic press. Instructors and studio monitors have the right to refuse the use of tools and equipment if they feel students/customers have not retained the basics to operate the equipment safely and/or independently.
Cancellations with less than 48 hour notice will not be refunded.
