Check off a gift on your list or make something fun for you all while learning about the rolling mill AND the hydraulic press. These two pieces of eqiupment are staples in the metalsmithing studio and essential to texturing and forming metal.
We will begin by working with the rolling mill to texture the surface of sterling silver or brass. Then, with the help of the hydraulic press, we will bend our sheet into a dramatic hoop shape. Learn how to solder on small, sterling silver posts to a larger piece of metal (your hoop earring) and then finish off the earring. Add patina or shine them up!
Once you've taken the class, come back during Open Studio on December 18th to make more earrings for your friends and family before the holidays! Open Studio is independent studio time without assistance. If you need help additional fees apply.
No previous experience necessary. Base metal and sterling posts included. Sterling silver materials available for purchase.
Cancellations with less than a 48 hour notice will not be credited or refunded.
