Join our new Intensive Metalsmithing 1 course, we're calling Weekend Warrior! In this three day, weekend version you'll be introduced to a variety of new techniques. You'll make a riveted pendant, pierced charm, bangle bracelet, and dangle earrings all while learning (in no particular order): studio safety, sawing and piercing, bangle measurements, metal stamping, texturing, tube and wire riveting, making your own jump rings, sweat soldering, butt joint soldering, soldering jump rings, dapping, disc cutting, earring wire fabrication, patina and polishing. We are going to teach you all of the above, and tips and tricks to be successful every time!
Students will choose from a pre selected variety of images for their pierced charm (see Minnesota state charm as an example).
The 1st and 2nd day will focus on building foundation skills. The third day will be a work day where you will be welcomed to start your own project with your new found skills. Your instructor will be available to assist you throughout the process, and answer questions.
Included in your class fee: use of all necessary tools, supplies including solder, fuel, flux as well as all finishing supplies such as sand paper, sanding discs, and polishing burs. The material fee is extra and will be payable at the time of class. Average material fee is $75 and includes all the materials you will need for the class projects; pricing is subject to change. Additional materials can be purchased at the studio as needed.

This is a fast-paced introduction to metalsmithing. Once you've taken this course you will be eligible to use our Open Studio which gives you access to our tools and equipment. Open Studio is independent study time.

This course is perfect for the beginner on a tight schedule, those who might live outside the Twin Cities area OR those of you wanting a refresher of MS1 with more techniques and projects covered as well as extra work time as well as one-on-one time with the instructor.
If you need to cancel your registration for this Metalsmithing 1 session a full refund will only be given if you contact us one full month prior to the class. If you cancel with less than a months notice you will receive a credit for half of the workshop price to be used toward a future offering. If you cancel with less than a weeks notice no refund or credit will be given.
